BelmontThis is a beautifully written document that was issued on 30 September 1978 and published in the Federal Register on 18 April 1979. It is one of the leading works concerning ethics and health care research, emphasizing ethical principles and guidelines for research involving human subjects. Three core principles are identified: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. Three primary areas of application are also stated. They are informed consent, assessment of risks and benefits, and selection of subjects.

It is not written with a lot of jargon, it is not a technical research paper nor is it a step by step guide to be memorized. Its message is plain and simple and permeates everything we do in clinical research.

If you`re interested, give it a read, you won`t be disappointed.
